Adding body to vocals is something I see lots of engineers miss. Those engineers add a lot of highs, and cut some lows. But what about the middle? Both low mid's and high mid's have information you should know about. Today we're discussing adding body to vocals.

What is body? Body is the low end in the vocal that makes it feel full. Without the low end feel. Your vocal can sound thin.

Low end creates bass. Do female vocals get it too? Yes. If everything is equalized properly, a slight low end boost wont hurt.

What frequencies give body? 100hz -500hz is where body live. However, there are some problematic frequencies which is beyond this tutorial.

What frequencies should i focus on? For both male and female vocals, I would suggest starting in the 100hz-200hz area. A lot of the time you will find the right frequency there.

How much db should I add? This is completely subjective. I personally don't go above 1.5 db. Sometimes I say under that. Very little can go a long way.
